Meccano
Lines Bros Ltd (UK) purchase Meccano in 1964, and following their collapse in 1971, Meccano are purchased by Airfix Product Ltd (UK) and General Mills Inc (USA). Airfix (UK) owned the rights to produce and sell within the commonwealth (exception: Argentinian rights licensed to Exacto in 1966), whilst General Mills Inc (USA) maintained the rights to the rest of the world (except Argentina).
In 1981 General Mills Inc (USA) purchased the rights for the commonwealth gaining them global rights(except Argentina).
Meccano SN (FR) then purchase the Meccano rights from General Mills Inc (USA) in 1985 and revoke Exacto's license to secure global rights.
Nikko Toys (JP) purchase 49% of Meccano SN (FR) in 2000. Nikko covered distribution outside of France.
21 Centrale Partners and Ingroup then purchase Meccano from Meccano SN (FR) and Nikko Toys (JP) in 2007.
Spin Master Ltd (CA) purchase Meccano from 21 Centrale Partners and Ingroup in 2013, owning the rights to Meccano to the present day.
Hornby Hobbies
In 1964 Lines Bros purchased Meccano Ltd, and consolidated the Hornby Dublo Train system with their own product line to make Tri-ang Hornby.
Lines Bros collapsed in 1971, leading to the sale of rights to Dunbee-Combex-Marx, who still own and produce railway systems under the name Hornby Hobbies to this day.
Dinky Toys
After the closing of the Binns Road Factory, the Dinky Toys brand was purchased by Matchbox, who tried to resurrect the production of Dinky Toys. However Matchbox themselves were purchased by Mattel, and in turn the Dinky Toys brand. Mattel still own the brand today.
